Sapphopalooza is back, and along with another year of stellar programming, we're bringing you a piece of forgotten Music Box history with our reimagining of the Music Boxettes uniform!
The Music Boxettes uniform pays tribute to the Music Box Lounge—formally a 1970s queer bar operated by Rhonda Renee—and stands as a bold homage to one of the city’s lost cultural touchstones. Inspired by the original softball team sponsored by the bar and its owner, the design blends vintage athletic style with unapologetic identity.
The Music Boxettes were more than a team—they embodied visibility, camaraderie, and joy during a time when queer spaces were both hard-won and deeply vital.
