When her husband becomes gravely ill, Sonia (Jana Raluy) rushes to the insurer to obtain emergency medical coverage. But after being kept waiting for hours, her application is summarily denied and she is left without the treatment needed to save his life. Running out of time and increasingly desperate, Sonia and her son Dario (Sebastian Aguirre Boëda) confront the treating doctor at his home, triggering a downward spiral of violence and complicity.
